Dawgs Pound Rebels 45-17

Brandon MillerThe Georgia Bulldogs scored four straight touchdowns to end the game in a 45-17 stomping of the Ole Miss Rebels.

The score was tight for most of the game and with 5:53 left in the third quarter, the Dawgs and Rebels were all tied up at 17 after Ole Miss running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis finished off an 18 play, 84 yard drive with a 2 yard score.   That drive for the Rebels was clearly the most impressive drive of the day for them taking an incredible 9:07 off the clock.  That same drive also, clearly woke up the Dawgs.  After that touchdown, the Rebels would score no more and the Dawgs would score four consecutive touchdowns, two of them on the stronger-than-ever legs of Thomas Brown.

Georgia’s offense was very solid on the day and protected the ball well.  They did not commit a single turnover on the day.  The rushing attack was in full force all game long for the Bulldogs as they rushed for an astounding 328 yards on 45 carries, averaging 7.3 yards per carry as a team!  Thomas Brown and Knowshon Moreno combined to rush for 270 yards in total.

Player of the Game:

Thomas Brown (Georgia RB) - Brown had his best game in what seems like years as he rushed for 180 yards on just 16 carries for 3 touchdowns and also caught 1 pass for 11 yards.

Stat of the Game:

8 different Georgia players rushed for positive yardage in the game.

Side Note:

On a side note, I want to mention one Ole Miss player that has been particularly impressive to me for some time.  Running back BenJarvus Green-Ellis transferred from Indiana a couple of years ago and clearly understood that it would be much harder to rush on the SEC defenses as opposed to Big 10 defenses.  Green-Ellis has taken on this challenge full-throttle and is an even better rusher now than he has ever been.  He managed to rush for over 100 yards (108) on a Georgia team that is known for it’s rushing defense year in and year out.  He already has 516 yards on the ground this year and has played two very good defenses in Florida and Georgia.  This is pretty impressive stuff in my eyes.  He’s stronger than ever and is proving that he is an every down back and a workhorse.  He will certainly be an asset to be aware of in this upcoming year’s NFL Draft.  He’s no sleeper, that’s for sure.
